Overview

X-Trend ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps social media content creators write and reformat content using artificial intelligence. This Privacy Policy explains how the Extension handles information when you use it.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. The short version: we do not collect your data, we do not store your content, and we do not share anything with third parties.

Information We Do Not Collect

The Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

Personal identifying information (name, email address, location, etc.)
Browsing history or activity on any website
The social media content you enter into the Extension
Generated captions or rewritten text
Usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports
Device identifiers or IP addresses

Your Anthropic API Key

To use X-Trend, you provide your own Anthropic API key. This key is stored exclusively in Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your own device. It is never transmitted to X-Trend servers, never logged, and never shared with any party other than Anthropic's API directly from your browser.

        Important: Your API key is sent directly from your browser to
        Anthropic's API (api.anthropic.com)
        when generating content. X-Trend acts as a relay within your browser only — no
        intermediary server ever sees or stores your key.
      

You can remove your API key at any time by clearing the Extension's storage via Chrome's settings, or by uninstalling the Extension.

How Your Content Is Processed

When you submit text to generate a caption or rewrite content, that text is sent directly from your browser to the Anthropic API. This is necessary to produce AI-generated results.

Content is transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection
Content is not stored, logged, or retained by X-Trend
Content is not used to train any X-Trend models or systems

Third-Party Services

The Extension communicates with one external service: the Anthropic API (api.anthropic.com), solely to generate AI content on your request. No other third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or tracking scripts are used.

We do not sell, rent, lease, or otherwise share any user information with any third party for any purpose, commercial or otherwise.

Local Storage & Permissions

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

storage — to save your API key and theme preference locally on your device
host permission for api.anthropic.com — to allow the background service worker to call the Anthropic API directly

No other permissions are requested. The Extension cannot read the content of any web page you visit, and it does not access your tabs, bookmarks, or any other browser data.

Children's Privacy

X-Trend is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the Extension, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
